Welcome to the March 2023 installment of the monthly Microsoft license update from the Version 1 Microsoft License Consulting Team. Each month, Microsoft releases license changes on their product terms. This month sees update includes a limited set of changes.

For your convenience, we have uploaded a recording that discusses these changes in more detail.

Microsoft Intune — Microsoft has updated the availability table and associated license prerequisites to include:

· Intune Suite

· Intune Plan 2

Microsoft has two new plans as an add-on to Intune P1, which is the Intune license available either as a standalone product or included in M365 suites (F1-E5, EMS E3-E5, Business & Premium plans).

· Intune P2 — includes VPN Tunnel for MAM, and Intune for Speciality Devices (e.g., conference room devices etc).

· Intune Suite — includes P2 features plus Remote Help, Endpoint Privilege Management & Advanced Endpoint Analytics; and further features to be included in the license suite later this year (Advanced App Management & Cloud Certification Management).

Microsoft 365 (Education Insights) Microsoft has now removed all content as this offer has been depreciated. Insights helped understand students and respond to their needs while providing real-time analytics of student progress and activity within their classes. This is now no longer available as a service to deploy but many of the features it did offer have been rolled-up into the broader Viva product-set.

Microsoft 365 Newly Available Offers — This month, Microsoft has updated the availability table for two new offers that include:

1. Forensic Evidence for Insider Risk Management, is an opt-in, add-on feature that gives security teams visual insights into potential insider data security incidents, with user privacy built in. This is included with Microsoft 365 E5 Compliance add-on or as standard with Microsoft 365 E5.

2. Microsoft Vulnerability Management Add-on delivers asset visibility, intelligent assessments and prioritisation and built-in remediation tools for Windows, Mac OS, Linux, Android, iOS, and network devices to prioritise and address critical vulnerabilities and misconfigurations across an organisation. This is an additional cost to Microsoft Defender for Endpoint Plan 2 or Microsoft 365 E5, but as of yet, pricing has not been published.

Microsoft Dynamics 365 Services — Updated all references of Microsoft Relationship Sales Solution Plus to Microsoft Relationship Sales to align with a name change.

Privacy & Security Terms — Updated the Azure Core Services to include Azure Form Recognizer, Azure Immersive Reader, Azure Metrics Advisor, and Azure Red Hat OpenShift.

As Microsoft license experts, we can help you simplify these and any other product changes and clarify what this could mean for your license position. If you have any questions relating to this or any other Microsoft licensing matter, please go to our website or contact us.
